It’s exciting that the Spirit is still nudging the leadership of Isaiah’s Table to do new things, even in this strange time of pandemic isolation. We gathered recently to install, fill and dedicate a Little Free Pantry next to the prayer board at the building. The pantry was built by one of our leaders, who repurposed an entertainment cabinet he purchased at the Habitat for Humanity Restore just down the street from Isaiah’s Table. The Interreligious Food Consortium provided a generous donation to stock the pantry. Neighborhood partners from Peace Inc. and the Syracuse Peacemaking Project will also help with donations.
The pantry is a way to provide much needed grocery items to neighbors as well as providing a way for neighbors to help neighbors. A sign on the door says “Take what you need. Give what you can.” in both English and Spanish. Offering an opportunity for community members to BOTH give and receive is a blessing to all.
We continue to partner with Peace, Inc. holding a toiletry pantry giveaway in conjunction with their food pantry day once per month. This is a great joy to meet neighbors and gain trust as a safe place for people to come. We look forward to continuing this mission in 2021.
We will be gathering on Zoom at 7:00 pm, December 24th for a Christmas Eve Service- please contact isaiahtable@gmail.com to receive the Zoom information. Everyone is welcome to join in a short service of scripture and song.
Wishing everyone a blessed Advent/Christmastide and may 2021 bring us back to together for in-person gatherings!
