Today was Table Day. Pearl walked down Genesee from Westvale Plaza because Bob was working. Kathy and Tom, Migual, Dom, Al, Pete, Dee. Rocky and the kids. Serving were Leisa, Pearl, and Karen. Laurel led worship. Carola has been dragging around with aches and pains and didn’t sleep well, so I came alone. (She would appreciate your prayers). Jean Harshal, Presbytery Treas., came for breakfast and worship. I really look forward to Saturday mornings. Let’s keep on praying for one another.
I think the Scripture was Luke 9:46-50. The disciples were arguing about who was the greatest. Jesus used a little child as an example.
“the least among all of you is the greatest.”
Then the disciples wanted to stop someone who was casting out demons in the name of Jesus. I guess he didn’t have the right credentials. Jesus said, “don’t stop him; for whoever is not against you is for you.”
If you are like me, you wake up in the night. Sometimes, for one reason or another, I can’t get right back to sleep. Lately, I have been using that time to pray the Lord’s Prayer. I try to think about what the prayer means.
I urge you to write your own paraphrase of The Prayer. Any prayer from the heart is good. Here is a version by the Friday night Bible Study group.
A paraphrase of the Lord’s Prayer by the WoodHathHope fellowship
Abba in the heavens
May everyone know you by that tender name
May your love transform this earth and the whole universe
Give us today the bread that will bring about your new tomorrow
Forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors and
Forgive our violence to others as we forgive the violence done to us.
Protect us from being brought to our breaking point
By the trials and temptations of the world.
And set us free from the power of the accuser and the evil it brings
