Beginning Friday, July 19th and throughout July, August and September friends and neighbors will travel EACH Friday evening to Vanderkamp to work in their huge garden. In turn, fresh organic produce will be returned to the neighborhood for distribution on Saturdays at the Produce Market. For more information, click on the event on the calendar or on the sidebar.
Here’s a photo from our first outing:
This summer in worship we have been exploring the book, Naked Spirituality by Brian McLaren. Each Saturday we focus on one of the 12 words that he features in this book. It has been a nice chance to focus on spiritual practices in worship and in daily life.
On Wednesday Night Spiritual Nurture a Journey through Luke has begun. Each Wednesday evening the discussion focuses on a chapter of the gospel. Click on the calendar to find out which chapter goes with which week.
We are excited to be partnering with Westminster Presbyterian Church to share an intern, Shanita Parsons. Shanita is working closely with the food pantry and the garden/produce market project. She will be developing a plan to reach out the neighborhood businesses to seek funding/food donations for the Food Pantry.
In other great news, Mekhi has already spent a week at Vanderkamp in camp and Lamar has completed a 2 week LIT program at Vanderkamp to learn leadership skills and hopefully be a counselor some day! Lamar is currently at Purdue University at Presbyterian Youth Triennium! Can’t wait to hear all about the boys’ summer so far!
Watch for a newsletter in early August! And stop by to see the 6 Garden Boxes in FULL BLOOM!
Peace and hope,
Nancy
